About Us
Located in Korea-Northgate (KONO) Corridor in Oakland, our mission is to provide a warm, welcoming neighborhood bar with a modern vision.
We use high quality ingredients, including fresh juices and garnishes for our cocktails, and have 10 rotating beers and a concise selection of wines
Our bar regularly hosts events (stand-up comedy, game viewings, and food from local guest chefs) for our community’s enjoyment. Our back patio is built around breathtaking old-growth redwoods and is a perfect place to hide away from Oakland’s Urban Lifestyle with a great drink to relax.
Our team is dedicated to providing all our guests with an outstanding experience in a unique yet decidedly unpretentious environment.

Do you serve food?
We are a Bar and Patio and do not serve food.
Can we bring outside food?
Yes, We welcome you to order food from our various neighbors and bring your food in with you. We do ask that you clean up after yourself.
Do we need reservations?
Our Apologies…..We NO LONGER take reservations and have moved to 1st Come basis but we have lots of space so don’t be discouraged. If you would like to reserve for a large group please use our inquiry page and let us know the details and we'll try our best (There may be a fee associated).
Can we have an event at The Double Standard?
Yes, please get in touch using our "Contact Us" form. We will respond to your inquiry within 48 hours.
Are children allowed?
No, The Double Standard is a 21 and over establishment.
Are you dog-friendly?
We love dogs and ask that you keep them on leash at all times.
Do you have live music?
Please see our Calendar for events, music and comedy nights.
How old are the Redwood Trees in the backyard?
Our Redwood Trees are majestically old....We estimate that they are approximately 150+ years of age. Come by and ask them for yourself. Tree Hugging is Welcome.
